Snowmobile registration numbers information provided by DecalCity.com. Everything you need to know to hit the snow!
Vinyl Snowmobile Registration Numbers Information :
Unless there is an exception, your snowmobile is required to display current registration decals,
which must be prominently visible on the left and right sides of the cowling.
The numbers must be:
1. Designed in a contrasting, reflective vinyl material or custom paint.
2. Block style with or without an outline(1- 7/8" high with a 3/16" stroke width)
3. A color different from the hood and easy to see from a distance.
4. Be sure to include a hyphen or a space between the last number and the capital letters.
So where do you put your new snowmobile numbers?
DMV-provided registration number decals must be displayed on both sides of the cowling or pan of the snowmobile at all times. The cowling is the forward portion of the snowmobile surrounding the engine and clutch assembly. Simply put - the forward portion of your snomobile ahead of the handlebars. Usually the manufacturer provides a 3" X 7" space in this area for placement of your MSV numbers. Place them directly behind the state validation sticker. Any display position behind the snowmobile cowling (tunnel or seat area) or on the windshield is illegal and could result in an expensive citation for violation of the registration law. The general idea is they need to be visible, quickly discernible, not obscure or blocked from view from the right or left side of your snowmobile.
